Petro Poroshenko decided to recall Ukraine’s Ambassador to Belarus Mykhailo Yezhel

It was said by him at Shiroki Lan training range near Mykolaiv, where the president took part in the drills of paratroopers, Ukrinform reports.

“A decision has been adopted to recall the Ambassador to Belarus Mykhailo Yezhel. At the moment corresponding documents are being formalized. At the moment Minsk is playing a very important role in the peace talks’ process, that is why I should guarantee a constant presence of an ambassador there,” Petro Poroshenko explained.

We remind that from 201 to 2012 Mykhailo Yezhel occupied a post of Ukraine’s defence ministry. In April 2013 the then president Viktor Yanukovych appointed him an Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus.

In August 2014 the General Prosecutor’s Office announced that the former defence minister was a suspect in the framework of criminal cases investigation of criminal cases which concern destruction of the combat service support of the Ukrainian army.

In the end of March, 2015 the Defence Ministry of Ukraine stated that they submitted a proposal to the president of Ukraine to recall Yezhel.
