Gomselmash workers have to go on holiday

In addition to May holidays, employees won't work six additional days due to the lack of work.

Charter97.org learnt it from Aliaksandr from Homel.

“We were supposed to work on May 16 and 30 for days off we had in January, because we didn't work on January 2, 5 and 6. Instead of it, we have 6 additional days off in May with the payment of two-thirds of the salary,” he writes.

The order of Gomselmash maangement says about days off “on the initiative of the employer in May 2015”. According to the document, workers can agree to have days off on May 8, 15, 16, 22, 29 and 30 “with paying a part of the salary”.

Belarus's biggest manufacturer of agricultural equipment has been in criss for a year. The plant has a debt of 5.1 trillion rubles. Gomselmash began to work three days a week some days ago.

The crisis affected other plants, too. It was said at the presidium meeting of the Belarusian Trade Union of Industrial Workers that staff at industrial enterprises of Belarus was cut by more than 10,000 people. Such giants as Atlant, MAZ, Minsk Motor Plant and Barysau-based Avtogidrousilitel plant lost a high number of workers. Checks were carried out in 173 companies and 1184 violations of the employment legislation were revealed.
