The leader of Tell the Truth campaign Uladzimer Nyaklyaeu has stated that he leaves oppositional structures.

“The talks of the Belarusian opposition which lasted 2 years, and were dedicated to nomination of a single candidate and defining a common platform for the presidential election – 2015 have come to nothing,” the statement of Nyaklyaeu reads. “In this connection I state that I leave oppositional structures, including the civil campaign Tell the Truth, to which activists I will always be thankful for their work and support. Independence and the democratic future of Belarus are remaining the most important value for me. I will continue to work for that.”

According to BelaPAN, Uladzimer Nyaklyaeu has also announced that he is no more a member of the oppositional coalition (which includes Tell the Truth campaign, the Belarusian Popular Front Party, For Freedom movement, the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada), the United Civil Party, the Belarusian Leftist Party the Just World) at the today’s session of the Seven, where the question of convention of the Congress of the Democratic Forces and nomination of a single candidate for presidency were discussed fruitlessly.

Uladzimer Nyaklyaeu was one of the most probable contenders for nomination as a presidential candidate in the election of 2015.

On April 7 the republican council of Tell the Truth adopted a decision to nominate an activist Tatsyana Karatkevich as a presidential candidate.
