Homel activist is on a hunger strike for two months.

Human rights activist of HRC Viasna Anastasiya Loika shared information on political prisoner Yury Rubtsou with charter97.org.

"His state of health is deteriorating. He is still on hunger strike. He drinks only tea with sugar. He is required to undergo medical tests in a day now. But he says he is taken tests only once a week. Now the analysis shows that he has problems with kidneys, his state of health is bad enough. Doctors have already warned him about possible consequences, but he does not intend to stop his hunger strike.

There is information that in late May there will be a trial appointed. It is not for sure, but it is likely to happen. Rubtsou says if the trial is open, with the presence of journalists and international observers, he would suspend the hunger strike. If it is a circuit court and a closed one, he will go on a dry hunger strike", she said.

It should be reminded that the political prisoner was initiated a new case against under Article 415, Criminal Code of Belarus for the avoidance of punishment. Yury Rubtsou refused to work because of low wages and required to provide him with a medium salary in the country- $600. Political prisoner believes that a new criminal case against him is illegal, as well as criminal case for insulting a judge, for which he has already been convicted.

On October 6, 2014 Tsentralny District court sentenced Yury Rubtsou to a year and a half in an open type institution No. 7 under Art. 391 (insulting a judge or people's assessor). December 22, 2014 he was transferred to Kuplin village, Pruzhany district.
