Vilnius district court has finished hearing testimony of Romuald Lipskij, suspected of spying for Belarus.

On Friday the former employee of Oro Navigacija (Air Navigation) state company, a Lithuanian national Romuald Lipskij finished giving testimony to Vilnius district court, Interfax reports.

"No, I do not admit anything. I am guilty of not going to the security immediately," he said at the hearing.

As requested by the lawyer, the court agreed to hear one of the audio recordings during the next hearing on June 19.

The hearings in the case are nearing their end, as Judge Jurgita Mačionytė has urged both sides to prepare their closing speeches.

According to the materials of the case, Lipskij secretly photographed documents and other objects in his office at Oro Navigacija to later hand them over to the Chief Intelligence Board of the Belarusian Armed Forces’ General Staff.

Earlier the prosecutor said that Lipskij met with Belarusian KGB agent Syarhei Kurulenka (Sergei Kurulenka) at a supermarket to provide verbal information about the Zokniai airport, namely, the location of objects, new equipment plans, entrance aspects, communications and infrastructure information.

As said by Gediminas Grina, a former chief of the Lithuanian State Security Department, the intelligence operation to bust Lipskij lasted for more than three years. Grina refused to elaborate on the amount of information provided by Lipskij to Belarus.

The Lithuanian authorities say Belarus is likely to have shared the information with Russia.

We remind that Lipskij, a citizen of Vilnius, was detained more than a year ago.

In November 2014 the Office of Prosecutor General of Lithuania and the State Security Department informed that Lipskij was charged with espionage for Belarus. The court examined 7 volumes of the case papers with 1,300 documents and 26 carriers with video and audio records. Witnesses were questioned in the case as well.

The defendant faces deprivation of liberty for a term of 3 to 15 years.
