The former Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs believes that the head of the EU delegation in Belarus must quit.

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, a deputy of Seimas and a deputy chairman of the Committee of the Lithuanian Parliament for Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis supported demands of the head of the Swedish human rights organisation Östgruppen, Martin Uggla, that the head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Maira Mora should resign as “the credit of trust had been exhausted by her”.

The politician has written about that on his Twitter.

We remind that Swedish human rights activists believe that the activities of the head of the EU Delegation to Belarus Maira Mora contradict the policy of the EU.

“Instead of clearly expressing the official line of the EU in support of democracy and human rights in Belarus, many times Maira Mora acted in such a way that it rather served interests of the illegitimate regime of Lukashenka. That is why she has exhausted her credit of trust as the representative of the EU,” Östgruppen representatives stated.

Human rights activists note that during Mora’s term of tenure the reputation of the EU Delegation to Minsk among Belarusian democratic forces considerably worsened. The organisation urged the government of Sweden to raise this question in the EU.
