Belsat journalist attacked in Brest

12

While our colleagues were shooting a video footage, an unknown man in mufti ran up to them, tried to seize a camera and knocked down Ales Lyauchuk.

Police stepped in, but it were… journalists who were taken into the police department, Belsat informs.

Ales Lyauchuk

Ales Lyauchuk and Milana Kharitonava were making an item about smoking hazards. It is unknown who the man in mufti was. “Now I am in the traffic police car, we are on the way to the police department to sort it out,” the journalist said. He does not know whether the attacker was a police worker.

The incident happened after a child ran up to journalists and started to interfere with their work. Milana made a remark, after that the unknown man interfered, probably the father of the boy. He started to insult and push the journalists. Finally, the latter were taken to the police department and asked for explanations. As said by Ales Lyauchuk, actions of policemen were polite.

The man who attacked Ales Lyauchuk

Earlier Ales Lyauchuk was harassed for cooperation with Belsat. The first trial was held in December 2014, on charges relating Article 22.9 Part 2 of the Administrative Code (“illegal making and dissemination of mass media products”). Then the trial was held with numerous violations. Judge Larysa Nazarenka fined the journalist Br6 mln.

In March 2015 Judge Raman Karaban fined Ales Lyauchuk for contributing to Belsat TV channel almost Br4 mln.
