President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin does not deny deliveries of weapons to terrorists in eastern Ukraine.

He said it at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, UNIAN reports.

According to him, the cold war can be caused by global decisions rather than local conflicts. He accused the US of withdrawing from the ABM Treaty unilaterally, which, the Russian president thinks, “pushes us to the arms race, because it changes the global security system”.

“As of regional conflicts, wherever they may take place, the conflicting parties always find weapons somewhere. It is also true for eastern regions of Ukraine,” he stressed, noting that no weapons will be needed if the situation in Ukraine's east is solved by political means.

Putin thinks there wouldn't be weapons in Donbas if the sides had tried to solve issues peacefully at the very beginning.

“Weapons appeared there only after people were killed with tanks, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and aircraft. Those who oppose it appeared. Weapons will disappear as soon as an attempt to solve the issue by political means is made,” Putin concluded.

Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov earlier admitted that terrorists of the “Donetsk People's Republic” and the “Luhansk People's Republic” depended much on the Kremlin in humanitarian and political sense.
