Human rights activists demand to inform about whereabouts of Nadija Savchenko

Ella Pamfilova, the Plenipotentiary on Human Rights in the Russian Federation, has sent official inquiries to the Office of Prosecutor General and the Federal Service for the Execution of Sentences.

The human rights plenipotentiary demands to provide information about whereabouts of te Ukrainian military Nadija Savchenko, BBC Russian service informs.

The day before the lawyer of Nadija Savchenko Mark Feigin stated that he does not possess official information about her whereabouts, but supposes that his client is most likely to be kept in the remand prison of the town of Shakhty, Rostov region.

On July 30 in Donetsk city court of Rostov region preliminary hearings in the case of Savchenko are to start. She is charged with murder of two Russian journalists near Luhansk – Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin.

If she found guilty by the court, she faces up to 25 year in prison.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine stated that the European Union will sent its representatives for monitoring of the court trial over Nadija Savchenko, and two other citizens of Ukraine – Oleg Sentsov and Oleksandr Kolchenko.
