Belarusian citizen involved in Odessa tragedy case

Ukraine's General Prosecutor’s Office informs there are 3 criminal cases initiated on events occurred in the Greek Square in Odessa on May 2, 2014. 23 people are suspects - citizens of Ukraine, Russia and Belarus are among them.

In general, the case involves a few episodes: disturbances and killings in the Greek Square, fire deaths in the Trade Unions building, improper duty performance by the Odessa police while ensuring security, as well as firemen's negligence, RIA Novosti reports.

The investigation of the major incident near the Trade Unions building is not yet completed.

The case against regional police is hampered by the fact that the main suspect Dmitry Fuchedzhi, former Deputy Director of the Odessa police, absconds.

According to Kyiv, he is on the territory of Trans-Dniester, however, the authorities of the unrecognized Republic deny it.

The case against firefighters who, according to investigators, were late for the fire, and also failed to provide the necessary means for life saving, is also not completed.

48 people fall victims to events in Odessa on May 2, 2014.

More than 250 people were injured.

On Wednesday, August 12 Malinovsky District Court of Odessa will continue consideration of the criminal case about mass disorders occurred on May 2 last year.

The regular court session will continue reading charges.
