Lviv residents don't want to see Lukashenka

People in Lviv are angry at the invitation made by mayor Andriy Sadovyi to the Belarusian dictator.

Lviv residents released a joint statement, Radio Racyja reports.

“We are indignant at the initiative of Andriy Sadoviy to invite last dictator of Europe Aliaksandr Lukashenka to the football match between Ukraine and Belarus scheduled in Lviv for September 5, 2015,” the appeal reads. “We urge the mayor to cancel the initiative.

The fraternal people of Belarus are deprived all rights and freedoms. Political prisoners, the most famous of whom is Mikalai Statkevich, are held in jails. We send birthday greetings to Mikalai Statkevich and wish him and Belarus freedom. We urge the mayor to persuade Lukashenka to release political prisoners instead of doing dubious business with him. Long live Belarus! Glory to Ukraine!” The Lviv mayor hasn't reacted to the appeal yet.

Andriy Sadoviiy invited Aliaksandr Lukashenka to attend a Euro 2016 qualifying match.
