How do politicians evaluate yesterday's meeting with voters in the Svaboda square in Minsk?

Chairman of the United Civic Party Anatol Liabedzka told Radio Svaboda that he Mikalai Statkevich and Uladzimir Nyaklyaew had been drawn up protocols against for an unauthorized picket. How does Liabedzka assess the reaction of the government?

"They cannot but react. Acting by force is to destroy the relations with the West. They have to keep the door a bit open. And we must use it. I think that Kolya wants to visit Europe and Aliaksandr wants to get ctedits. It affects before-the-election period, when siloviki use the protocols to deprive us of voters. It is possible, I guess. But still it does not exist, there are only papers and protocols. They do not worth attention", the politician stated.

According to Liabedzka, yesterday's action was two times bigger than the previous one.

"If you think that little strokes fell great oaks, everything ok. The best variant to put pressure on the government is to ignore this election model. There is a chance to turn the tide, if there is pressure", he says.

Uladzimir Nyaklyaew said that the policemen had drawn up the protocol against him for yesterday's rally and handed a summons on the previous one. How mass the action was in comparison to the previous one?

"When I asked the policemen why I was given two papers, they replied that that time I had deserved it because a thousand people had come. It is next larger. People came to me and said they had overcome fear and come, they were happy. I felt the same in the Maidan. Money can't buy it. It is worth doing it to increase the number of people involved", the politician stated.

According to Nyaklyayew, such voters' meetings should exist, the next one is scheduled on October 4.

"I'm sure they have much greater effect, which is possible to imagine. People here feel uplift. Now it covers houses, enterprises and universities. It makes people fall to thinking of the present situation, that many things depend on them. The main thing for us is not to preserve the regime for years and to keep Belarus free. I believe this idea is spreading and it will help us to solve the situation", he said.

During the rally Mikalai Statkevich called people to come to the Svaboda square on October 10. He summed up years of the presidency of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. The politician believes that Lukashenka didn't come to the meeting because "ordinary voters can not only say something rude, but also do".

"We believe that this man committed a crime, we do not believe in democracy and patriotism that we are given. We consider him a criminal, and his place is in the dock," the politician stated.
