Shunevich Believes That Independent Sites Prepare "Color Revolution"

All color revolutions began with the discrediting of the authorities.

This was stated by Minister of Internal Affairs Ihar Shunevich in the "In Close-Up" program on the Belarus 1 TV channel.

The minister apparently meant by "discrediting" another scandalous case involving the police – a drunk head of traffic police knocked down to death a young woman in Baranavichy.

In response to the host’s question about his attitude to "the information wave, aimed at discrediting the police, which has been risen by independent Internet resources," the Interior Minister said:

– Analyzing the experience of almost all the color revolutions that have occurred in recent history, we can conclude that all of them started with discrediting the government, its strong force branches. I believe that the internal affairs bodies are one of the most powerful arguments of the authorities in maintaining law, order and state system in Belarus. I think, they are giving the same scenario a go here.

"In actual fact the approach is the following – first bring law enforcement officers to knees, and then the power?" – the host inquired.

– It is likely, that is the order, in which this plan, or intention, is supposed to be implemented, – Shunevich agreed.

However, if the "vocal minority wants to arrange the chaos in the streets, the Interior Ministry will have enough resources to confront them," Shunevich threatened.

Returning to the question of the "information war" against his agency, the Interior Minister noted that a specific group of people is engaged in it.

– In a sense, we have to be grateful to them for the constructive criticism, for creativity and a desire to help all of us, including the management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, – Shunevich said and added that, according to his personal assessment, these people are guided by entirely different intentions, as "there is some sleight-of-hand, astute manipulation of facts and outright lies."

– In any case, I want to say that we conduct checks on each fact of the compromising information appearance, – the minister said.
