Activists announced flashmob "Goodbye Sovok!"

Belarusians were offered to get rid of "sovetchina" (Editor's note - Soviet era type of thinking and living).

On December 8, the day of the 25th anniversary of signing the agreement declaring the elimination of the USSR, public association "Alternative" organizes a social network flashmob " Goodbye Sovok!"

To take part in the flashmob, you should take a photo of farewell with any attribute of the Soviet era and post it under the hashtag #savokgoodbye in Facebook, VKontakte or Instagram.

As the leader of "Alternative" Aleh Korban has explained to svaboda.org, the photos should depict the process of burning or throwing away a thing that symbolizes Soviet era – it can be an everyday object or a soviet symbol.

Authors of the most interesting and creative photos will be awarded souvenirs decorated with the Pahonia coat of arms image and national embroidery.

" With this action we want to draw public attention to the anniversary of an important historical event and at the same time to show that the Soviet times are over and that our country should stick to new approaches, democracy and freedom, modernization and progress. Nearly every of us has something from that red era at home. This is why it will be symbolic to clean "sovetchina" from our homes on this day.

For example, you can remove an old carpet from the wall, throw away a TV-set, a radio, a telephone, books on the history of the CPSU, a pioneer tie," – the "Alternative" press-secretary Volha Brunevich comments on the idea of the flashmob.
