White-red-white Flag Hanged Near KGB Headquarters In Maladzechna

25

Today, February 5 at about 2 p.m. a national white-red-white flag emerged in the central Maladzechna, Minsk region.

It was reported by a local dweller Valiantsin Tsishko on his Facebook page, charter97.org informs. He also managed to make a picture of the event.

The unknown activists placed the national flag quite audaciously: right between the building of the local headquarters of the KGB of Belarus and the Investigation Committee. They even had to climb a poster pillar nearby for that.

As informed by onlookers, the flag attached to a telescopic fishing rod stayed there for just a few minutes. The daring action finished, but no one was detained.

We remind that legally speaking, the national white-red-white flag is not banned in Belarus, and Pahonia coat-of-arms is even recognized as a historical and cultural value officially. However, policemen are very nervous about the symbols that had been carried by them on their uniform from 1991 to 1996, and one can be easily detained for use of those symbols.

Earlier charter97.org website informed that European Belarus activists hanged out 100 white-red-white flags in Independence Avenue in Minsk.
