Lukashenka’s Promises At Last Assembly And How They Ended Up

In 2010, the dictator promised a wage of $1000 by the year 2015.

A promise to double the average salary sounded from the tribune of the “All-Belarusian Assembly”, that happened on the eve of the elections-2010:

— By the year 2015, we need to bring the salaries to a thousand US dollars in equivalent. This is the highest pace of growth of salaries and incomes of the population in our history, — Lukashenka said.

These optimistic plans were destined not to realize, Solidarity writes.

In terms of dollars at the average exchange rate of the National Bank in September 2015, the average salary was $ 389. This means, in less than five years, it had not only failed to increase twice, but also fell by 1.4 times (the level of May 2010) in comparison with December 2010.

In accordance with the plans for the upcoming 5 years, the GDP growth should have made 162-168%.

In the reality, throughout the last five years the situation looked as follows : 2011 — 5,5%, 2012 — 1,7%, 2013 — 0,9%, 2014 — 1,6%, upon the results of the three quarters of 2015 the GDP fell by 3,7%.

The growth of inflation in Belarus led our country into the world's leaders: 2011 — 108,7%, 2012 —21,8%, 2013 — 16,5% 2014 —16,2%. In 2015, according to the forecast of macroeconomic development of the country, inflation in Belarus should not exceed 12%. At the same time, the National Bank has identified targets for inflation this year at the level of 18% with a tolerance of 2%. As of September to the beginning of the year, consumer prices rose by 9,2% in the country.

— We shall complete the drastic simplification of the taxation system, as a result of which it will not differ from the European ones in terms of composition of taxes and fees and the payment frequency, — Lukashenka promised back in December 2010.

For the last 5 years, a number of ambiguous fees have been introduced in Belarus: the state fee for the permit for a vehicle to participate in traffic movement – the so-called “traffic tax”, and no less notorious “social parasite tax”.
