The dictator got into nostalgia for the Soviet past at the meeting with the head of the Russian Communists.

Today Lukashenka had a meeting with the head of the Russian Federation Communist Party Gennady Zyuganov, who is in Minsk on a visit. The Russian politician was met at the railway station by the delegation headed by Ihar Buzouski, the first deputy head of Lukashenka's administration, euroradio.fm reports.

“We have lost the country, but the worst thing was that we lost the system which took decades to create and which was unparalleled in the world. If we had polished and improved it, we would have become an absolutely different state even after the collapse of the Soviet Union, – the press office quotes Lukashenka. – Today we are demolishing the remnants of that system which we, perhaps, should have preserved, in the economy and especially in the socio-economic development.”

Lukashenka also awarded Gennady Zyuganov with Order of Peoples’ Friendship.

“Nobody has done as much as do you in Russia, it is not a flattery, – Lukashenka said to the Communist Party leader. – We are presenting this award to you not because it is election time. We took this decision long ago. It was just that I did not have an opportunity to present this award to you personally”.
