Authorities Prepare 'Labour Project' For Medical Students

On what it looks like.

In the summer medical students will be brought to work in Polatsk and Navapolatsk. Propaganda calls it a "labour project," but it seems that they are going to plug the holes in the staff with students, notes Euroradio.

According to the authorities, the thing is that the project was very popular last year. That's why, they believe, the medical institutions have now received 60 requests from Belarus and Russia.

However, the clue to such labour enthusiasm for 600-800 rubles is rather prosaic. There are now about 200 places for doctors-specialists and more than 100 for nurses in the job banks of both towns.

We remind you that last autumn, in an interview with People's Reporter, Dr. Stanislau Salavei, who left Belarus because of repression, expressed his opinion on why the outflow of staff in the medical field is happening on such a scale in Belarus.

"The deficit of personnel is growing, and we can't trust the Ministry of Health. The Medical Solidarity Fund has proved that the authorities distort information about the number of doctors.

And there is a lot of indirect evidence of this. The Minister of Health of Poland said a year ago that during the year they issued 2 thousand work permits to foreign doctors: a thousand to Ukrainians and a thousand to Belarusians.

So we had a loss comparable to the loss of a country where there was a full-scale war.

The second point is that the research on working conditions showed what percentage of medics are overworking. That is, they are becoming fewer in number, yet they are working more.

Previously, emigration was mainly the province of young doctors who have worked off for two years, became free in terms of movement and left, for example, to Germany. Now doctors of 35, 45 and even 50 years old are actively leaving," the doctor said.

It should be noted that as of today, the above reasons are only the tip of the iceberg.
