Baranavichy Woman Convicted Over Liking A Post On Odnoklassniki Social Network

She was accused of “slander” against Lukashenka.

60-year-old pensioner Romualda Dekola was convicted over an accusation of “slander” against Lukashenka under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code. The trial took place on March 28 in Baranavichy. The case was considered by judge Alena Papova, Vadzim Karachou was a state prosecutor, human rights activists report.

According to the prosecution, the pensioner put a “class” mark in Odnoklassniki under the image in the “Long Live Belarus” group.

The Court of Baranavichy and the Baranavichy District found her guilty and punished her with liberty restriction without sending her to an open institution for a period of three years and six months.

The court also decided to confiscate the woman's phone.
