German Chancellor: Germany Firmly Stands On Israel's Side
OLAF SCHOLZ

Iran risks starting a fire.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned Iran's attack on Israel. The air attack of the Islamic Republic on Israel "is irresponsible and can not be justified by anything," the head of the German government wrote on Х on the night of Sunday, April 14.

“Iran is risking starting the fire. We stand firmly on Israel's side and will now discuss everything else with our allies,” the Chancellor added.

Many world leaders Tehran attack condemned

Earlier, Iran's attack on Israel was condemned by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, European Union Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Stéphane Séjourné. The Saudi authorities expressed deep concern about the military escalation in the region and its possible consequences.

Attack on Iranian Consulate in Syria

The escalation of tensions in the region began after Israeli aircraft allegedly attacked the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1. The attack killed seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including two generals. After that, the faith leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, threatened to "punish" Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country was ready for any response. “Whoever did or planned to do us harm, we will do them harm,” he warned.
