‘They Siphoned Off About $10 Million Annually’

About the “successful” cooperation of the Belarusian dairy industry with the Russian Federation.

One of the leaders in dairy production in Belarus, Babushkina Krynka, ended 2023 with a loss of 19.8 million rubles. The company ended 2022 with the same result, noted Charter97.org reader Ihar.

By the end of the 2000s, the former Mahiliou Dairy Plant was able to absorb most of the dairy industry in the Mahiliou region, processing up to 3 thousand tons of milk per day. The company produced about 300 types of products, selling them to more than 20 countries.

In 2019, the thriving company was headed by an “experienced business executive” (also a former racketeer) Henadz Skitau. He organized a scheme under which the products were sold to an intermediary at a reduced price, and in the Russian Federation they were sold at a super profit. They siphoned off $10 million annually.

This “rosy picture” was covered up by employees of the Lukashenka administration and GUBOPIK. But then the dictator “wisely” decided to support Putin’s aggression against Ukraine, and the most profitable markets of Western countries disappeared.

The result is obvious. Both for the director, who went to prison, and for the company.
