Latvian President Nearly Knocked Down At Pedestrian Crossing
EDGARS RINKEVICS

And scolded for not looking around.

Yesterday morning almost ended in tragedy not only for Edgars Rinkēvičs, but also for the whole of Latvia. The President of Latvia was almost hit at a pedestrian crossing, press.lv reports.

The incident was reported on X by its direct participant - the head of the news service of the Latvian Radio Uģis Lībietis, accusing Rinkēvičs of inattention.

‘At the pedestrian crossing I braked on purpose to avoid running over the toes. Edgars Rinkēvičs and his bodyguards! Mr President, you must look left and right before crossing the street! Also for bodyguards...’

However, many Internet users were surprised by the driver's emotions.

- How is it - especially to brake before the pedestrian crossing?

- If it wasn't for the president, wouldn't slow down, right?

- Move slower and be more careful at the pedestrian crossing, and you will not have to ‘specially’ brake to let through its participants who ‘suddenly’ and ‘unexpectedly’ appeared on the zebra crossing. Kids may not look either, but you'll be surprised and won't be able to brake ‘especially’.

- I can really see the headline ‘Latvian Radio's News Director Almost Hits President’.

Edgars Rinkēvičs himself joked, ‘The press is trying to get at me!’
