Drones Attack Major Oil Refinery In Kaluga Region Of Russian Federation

A large-scale fire broke out after the explosions.

Drones have attacked an oil refinery in Kaluga region of the Russian Federation. As a result of the attacks there was a fire.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Russian media.

According to the media, several powerful explosions were heard in Dzerzhinsky district near the station of Polotnyanyany Plant around 1 am. The work of air defence systems was reported.

Eyewitnesses said that before that, the characteristic sounds of several UAVs flying over were heard, after which fire and smoke could be seen in the area of the local First Factory oil depot.

Russian media report that the fire at the refinery has been localised and there are no casualties.

According to local residents, employees were evacuated from the refinery at around 12am.

The First Factory LLC is the largest oil refinery in Russia's Kaluga region. The main complex for processing commercial crude oil and gas condensate. Its nominal refining capacity is 1.2 million tonnes per year.

This refinery was already attacked on March 15.

Vladislav Shapsha, the Governor of Kaluga Region, said that earlier last night a fire broke out on the territory of the enterprise in Dzerzhinsky District as a result of a UAV crash. Operational units were sent to the site to eliminate the fire.

"Now the fire has been liquidated. According to preliminary data there are no casualties. The size of the damage to the infrastructure of the enterprise is being assessed," he said.
