Ukrainian Ambassador: Did Artificial Intelligence Speak Instead Of Belarusian Foreign Minister?
Ihor Kyzym

Siarhei Aleynik has become a mouthpiece for Russian propaganda.

Ukrainian Ambassador at Large for Belarus Ihor Kyzym reacted on Facebook to an interview with the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Siarhei Aleynik to the Russian propaganda publication RIA Novosti:

— Unfortunately, there is no full text of the interview, even on the website of their Foreign Ministry, to confirm that this is not a conversation with artificial intelligence, but with the minister, whom I knew personally from the time I worked in London.

Because what he said, at least regarding Ukraine and the “peacefulness” of Belarus, can hardly be called a parallel reality. Perhaps this is intended for Russian society, which has been living in a “parallel world” for a long time. But why do Belarusians need this?

Ihor Kyzym highlighted two main points in Aleynik’s interview:

— First: “... no threat has ever emanated and will never emanate from the territory of Belarus... No aggression can be carried out from the territory of Belarus.” And all this with a reference to the Constitution and military doctrine (which speaks about this). And the fact that on February 24, 2022, large-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine began from the territory of Belarus, is this taken into account? Is it “something different”? It would not surprise me if such words were spoken either by a propagandist or by a person who is “not in the know.” But after all, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry knows better than anyone about the real situation, including thanks to the dozens of official notes handed over by the Ukrainian Embassy in February-November 2022, which expressed strong protests against the opening of the Belarusian-Ukrainian border to Russian invaders by the leadership of Belarus and hundreds of missile and bomb attacks by the Russian Aerospace Forces, which were carried out from Belarusian airfields in Luninets, Lida, Baranavichy, Machulishchy, and others.

The Ukrainian ambassador believes that the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry is “blurring our eyes with cliches of Kremlin propaganda”:

— Maybe it would be more correct to talk about the violation by the military-political leadership of Belarus of Article 18 of its own Constitution (not to mention our bilateral Friendship Treaty), rather than blurring our eyes with some cliches of Kremlin propaganda, which no one in the world takes seriously anymore. And the second thesis is “the doors of Belarus are open... for negotiations on Ukraine...”. I'll say this. They were indeed open, and evidence of this was the negotiations on the Donbas in 2014-2020 within the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group. But having become a “co-aggressor”, Belarus itself loudly slammed this door. I think for a long time. And, perhaps, Belarusian leaders themselves will soon need a city for negotiations, where they will explain their role in Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Obviously, this will not be Minsk, and, by the way, not Moscow, whose interests are publicly “promoted” in the media space by the Belarusian foreign policy department. Unfortunately. It’s a pity, Siarhei Fiodaravich, that the Belarusian Foreign Ministry is turning into a mouthpiece for the Kremlin propaganda, and is gradually losing its “pro-Belarusian” style, although not entirely friendly towards Ukraine, but still understandable in the current situation. Maybe this is really a case when it would be better for a diplomat to remain silent? If, of course, this is still possible.
