Bandits guard the House of Government from opposition?

20

Oppositional political parties leaders - the United Civil Party, the Party of Communists Belarusian and Belarusian Socio-Democratic Party (Hramada) 2 October hardly entered the House of Government to hand in the signatures, gathered from the Belarusian citizens against the canceling of the privileges. UCP leader Anatol Liabedzka was beaten by men in civvies, who refused to say their names.

They behaved like bandits. These skinheads attacked me and didn’t let me in the House of Government. They didn’t say their names or show the documents. I asked them: who are you? Bandits? They said I couldn’t walk there as it was a secure object. That is the parliament allegedly elected by people, became a secure object. When I tried to go they struck me blows, as usual stealthily”, - Anatol Liabedzka said to Charter’97 press center.

But Anatol Liabedzka, Siarhei Kaliakin and Anatol Liaukovich at last managed to enter the House of Government. The politicians passed 40.000 signatures against the canceling of privileges to the “house of representatives”.
