Milkmaids ready to leave state trade union

18

Salaries for October of milkmaids of the agricultural enterprise “Martsiukhova” made BR 60 000, instead of $ 600-700 claimed by Lukashenka. Local activist Mikalai Pietrushenka proposed to the milkmaids to leave the state trade union that does nothing to improve the situation and create an independent trade union organization.

The milkmaids sent an anonymous letter to the president’s administration complaining of the low salary. As the milkmaids wrote, each of them daily milks 250 l of milk on average which is sold in stores at the price of approximately BR 1 000, Bulletinonline.org reports.

Nevertheless, the milkmaids were unaware that the president’s administration never considers anonymous letters, but the women don’t dare express their protest in a more outspoken way.

Meanwhile, Mikalai Pietrushenka offered to address deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Uladzimer Adashkevich. The deputy, who also performs the functions of the assistant head of the parliamentary human rights commission, was astonished with such low salaries but never took any specific measures to improve the situation.

Mikalai Pietrushenka recommended the milkmaids to leave the state trade union of the agricultural and industrial complex that doesn’t fight for their working rights. As for now, the milkmaids agreed. Nevertheless, Pietrushenka is not sure they will actually apply for leaving the trade union: the workers of the agricultural and industrial complex “Martsiukhova” have been tolerating minuscule salaries for a long time and many of them have no faith in any progress.
