Victar Ivashkevich, chairman of the organizational committee of the European March, co-chairman of the BNF Party and Valer Uhnalou, co-chairman of Belarusian Party of Communists were arrested in the evening 25 September when leaving the café “El Pomidoro” in Chyrvonaya Street in Minsk center. The politicians were celebrating Victar Ivashkevich’s 48th birthday. When they went out of the café, the bus with riot militiamen (OMON) drove up to them. The riot militiamen accused the famous politicians of breach of the peace and pushed them into the bus.

US President George Bush called the United Nations Organization to fulfill its main function – observance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. “Every member of the United Nations must join in the mission of liberation”, - Bush said in his speech at 62nd session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday. He explained that the UN members must free the world from tyranny, violence, hunger and poverty. Around five thousand people participated in the rock festival ”Right to Be Free” organized by Belarusians in the Ukrainian town Lutsk 22 September. The festival was accompanied by hardships: buses with the festival guests were detained at the exit from Belarus by the special regiment, thus the people were made to hitchhike or travel by electric train. It took the musicians hours to pass the customs and boarder guard control. But the festival was held and struck its target.
