Firms, having offices on the second floor in the House of Literary Man, were dispossessed with agreements not made. It has become known after Lyavon Barshcheuski, head of the Belarusian Popular Front party, received an answer to his letter, sent to head of “White Rus” Alyaksandr Radzkou.

The return address was the legal address of the organisation: Minsk, Frunze Str., 5-205, “White Rus.”

Ales Pashkevich, head of the Union of Belarusian Writers and head of the Literary Foundation, said to Euroradio the Literary Foundation had already been evicted, in spite of prepayment made:

“We didn’t conclude an agreement, though the Literary Foundation made prepayment for some months, and it was evicted. Firms and public associations that had offices there, were dispossessed, too. As far as the staff of the building knows, the whole second floor will be occupied by “White Rus,” Pashkevich says.

Earlier the Union of Belarusian Writers was evicted from the House of Literary Man. Most members of the union are in opposition to the current authorities.

Mikhail Batura, head of the Minsk City Office of “White Rus” confirmed the legal address of the organisation is Frunze Str., 5. But they haven’t moved to the building because of “repair works”:

Mikhail Batura doesn’t know how much space will “White Rus” occupy. According to him, one room of 23 square meters was vacated for the city organisation.

It’s interesting to note, the administration of the House of Literary Man assure, they know nothing about housing of “White Rus.” According to the custodian, no rooms were vacated for the organisation.

Meanwhile all 10 rooms on the second floor in the building on Frunze Str, 5 are closed in spite of working hours. The corridor is empty, door plaque are removed...
