Bus deadheads pacified by riot policemen

12

Riot policemen pacified young people in Mahilyou who hadn’t paid fares.

In the evening four drunk guys entered a Mahilyou city bus No 26 which takes people from the railway station to the settlement of Barouka. They didn’t pay fare, but reclined at ease at seats. Sipping bear, they discussed there recent escapades noisily. When fare collector Larysa Antonenkava reminded that tickets are be bought, they answered with swear words. Passengers who tried to defend the fare collector were insulted as well, “Sovetskaya Belorussiya: writes.

Despite of the heated atmosphere in the bus, the fare collector tried to call the aggressive free riders to order. At that moment one of the hooligans, almost three times younger than Larysa Antonenkava, hit her. Then, rudely pushing her away, broke a dome lamp in the passenger compartment, while his friends were laughing loudly.

At that moment the bus was nearing the terminal stop. Not far from it a riot police regiment base is situated. The fare collector reached the base’s officer on duty on the phone. In a few minutes riot policemen were in the bus. But even after their appearance free riders didn’t calm down. All the four of them were handcuffed and taken to the police department of Kastrychnitski district of Mahilyou for examination.

“I have hardly ever met such wild guys,” the commander of the special fast-response team, police mayor Syarhei Volkau said about his impressions. “When they were detained, they were not only resisting riot policemen, but even threatened them. Nobody knows what could have happened in case our guys hadn’t pacified them promptly”.

As for Larysa Antonenkava, she hasn’t told about the incident even to her colleagues. When journalists called her to the fare collectors’ service of the bus depot No. 1, nobody knew about the incident. Larysa doesn’t want to discuss this topic with journalists either. But she returned to work as usual.

“Unfortunately, she is not the first person aggrieved on duty,” told the engineer of the fare collection service of the bus depot No. 1 Nina Vinnikova. “Our fare collectors are insulted almost every day. There were cases when they were beaten up in the buses, and a nose of one of them was broken”.

Larysa Antonenkava hasn’t registered the assault yet, so policemen do not have the finding of examination yet. A criminal action for hooliganism has been brought up against the young man who had hit the fare collector. He has given a written undertaking not to leave the place. His friends will bear administrative liability.
