Dunja Mijatovic to Belarusian journalists: “I admire your courage”

The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media sent a letter of support to independent Belarusian journalists.

Dunja Mijatovic met with independent Belarusian journalists under investigation, Natallya Radzina, Iryna Khalip, Svyatlana Kalinkina, and Maryna Koktysh, during her recent visit to Belarus.

The OSCE Representative wrote a letter to the Belarusian journalists after the meeting:

“Dear Iryna, Maryna, Natallya, and Svyatlana,

I was deeply moved by our meeting and conversation during my visit to Minsk last week.

As you know, I have been keeping an eye on the events around you since I was appointed OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media. I was happy to have an opportunity to meet with you personally.

Thank you for the heart touching article you wrote about our meeting.

I will further use my power and opportunities I have to improve working conditions for all NGO journalists in Belarus.

I admire your courage and fearless critical articles. You are real heroes of the free media.

I wish you success in your important work!
