BNR Rada offers “Iron Curtain” for KGB and OMON

The Council of the Belarusian National Republic (the BNR Rada) has addressed governments of several states with a proposal to impose an entry ban for officers of security and law-enforcement agencies of Belarus and their family members.

The Rada has adopted a statement expressing “concern over the repressive actions against opposition activists, political and human rights organizations and journalists of independent mass media, which are extremely brutal even for Lukashenka’s regime. The crackdown broke out after the so-called presidential “election’ on December 19 and its scale is increasing. Punitive measures are used not only against activists, but against their family members as well,” “Radio Svaboda” reports.

The Rada of the of the Belarusian National Republic applies to the governments of the European Union countries, the US, Canada, Ukraine, Turkey and Egypt with a call “to ban entry to the territory of these countries to workers of the KGB and other special services, the Interior Affiars Ministry system, courts and prosecutor’s office of Belarus, and to their family members. The BNR Rada considers the abovementioned structures as a repressive mechanism which is used against pro-democracy opposition activists.”

The BNR Rada offers this entry ban “to be in force until the moment when the last political prisoner in Belarus released, and all criminal and administrative cases against persons persecuted for their political attitude are dismissed.”
