In Moscow Lukashenka was called traitor and sick man

72

The visit of the Belarusian dictator to Russia is considered a mere formality by political analysts.

In Moscow Alyaksandr Lukashenka is to take part in a number of integration summits: of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), the Customs Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

The summits are to be held in Moscow on December 9-10, and on the day before prime ministers of Belarus and Russia Syarhei Sidorski and Vladimir Putin could not find agreement on a number of issues, primarily concerning oil and gas deliveries, Radio Svaboda informs.

Gazprom has stated there are no grounds for reviewing contracts on gas deliveries to Belarus. And as said by Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko, regulation of duties for oil products would be put outside the Single Economic Space to the sphere of bilateral agreements. During the CSTO summit Belarus is to become chair of this organization, and as said by a political analyst Andrei Fyodorov, it would be sued for improvement of the public image. However, it is rather a formal position. So why have Lukashenka left for Moscow?

“Like it is customary recently, especially when this misunderstanding with the Russian leadership started, the aim is cheap energy resources. And also an open Russian market without any milk, sugar and other wars. The main thing is sponsoring of the Belarusian economy to be continued. Judging by the phrases heard from Moscow, it does not look as if they are ready to agree to offer these economic preferences to Belarus again,” Fyodorov said.

Does this visit to Moscow mean that the Kremlin has made up with Lukashenka and will support him in the election?

As said by Moscow-based political analyst Andrei Suzdaltsev, bilateral meetings of Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Dmitry Medvedev are not on the agenda so far.

“There is no support, it is a formal thing. There will be a round-table meeting: everyone enters and leaves. How there could be making peace with a traitor? A traitor is either punished or forgiven. Lukashenka wants Moscow to apologize. Is it real at all? What for? For Lukashenka’s insulting Medvedev with the meanest words? What kind of friendship with a traitor could exist? It was shown on all TV channels that he is a sick man, a psychopath. The entire Russia has seen that. These are serious things, all that has been said and shown. Such a person is at the head of the country. It is not Russia’s problem, it’s a problem of Belarus.”
