CEC refused to give Sannikov and Nyaklyaeu TV time due to their appeal to come to the Square on December, 19

The Central Election Commission refused the request of presidential candidates to give them additional time on TV.

As “Radio Svaboda” reports, the CEC gave two reasons for the refusal. First of all, Belteleradiocompany in its reply to the CEC request stated that functions imposed on it have already been fulfilled, and recommended the presidential candidates to address those mass media that are not part of its structure. It was also stressed in the reply that a number of candidates hadn’t used their radio time at all.

Second reason was voiced by the CEC secretary Mikalai Lazovik. He said that it’s impossible for “irresponsible appeals to come to the Square in the evening on December, 19” to sound on TV and radio.

The CEC also hasn’t found any violations from the part of the candidate Lukashenka. We are rteminding, that politicians Siarhei Kalyakin, Halina Syamdzyanava and Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu made an application to the CEC about Lukashenka’s violation of article 73 of the Electoral Code. This article forbids using advantages of one’s official status.

Applicants refer to the meeting of the Belarusian leader with his election agents in the office premises and during working hours.

After the discussion the CEC members came to the conclusion that there were no violations there. No fault was also found in arrangement of a rally in support of the leader with participation of Russian citizens.
