Minsk city court to hear cassation appeal from verdict to Atroshchankau

Tomorrow, on April 5, Minsk city court is to hear the cassation appeal from the verdict to the spokesperson of Andrei Sannikov, Alyaksandr Atroshchankau.

Hearings of the cassation appeals from the verdicts to Alyaksandr Mauchanau and Dzmitry Novik are to take place at the same time with the journalist’s appeal. The court session is to start in Dunin-Martsinkevich Street, 1/3 at 10 a.m.

As charter97.org was told by Alyaksandr Atroshchankau’s wife Darya, she does not have any hopes for a just decision of the court. “Guys would not be taken to the court room,” Darya Korsak said.

Now Alyaksandr Atroshchankau stays in the colony Vitsba-3 (Vitsebsk region).

We remind that on March 2, 2011 the court of Frunzenski district of Minsk announced the verdict in one of the trials in the so-called criminal case of “mass riots”. By “mass riots” the regime means the many thousands strong peaceful protest rally against the rigged results of the presidential elections on December 19, 2010.

Basing upon fabricated evidence, Judge Tatsyana Cherkas delivered a judgment which had been planned: a journalist Alyaksandr Atroshchankau was sentenced to 4 years’ imprisonment, Dzmitry Novik – to 3.5 years’ imprisonment, Alyaksandr Mauchanau – to 3 years of imprisonment in a colony with a reinforced regime.
