Last money to be given to state-owned media to lie

Last money will be taken from our pockets and given to Lukashenka’s propagandidsts.

Minister of Information of Belarus Aleh Pralyaskouski said at a meeting with KIM personnel in Vitsebsk on June 13 that the state continued to support media. “Newspapers and TV are not a source of profit, but a source of information. That’s why the state have helped and will help mass media,” he said.

The minister noted that “the print media do not have serious problems”. “The biggest national newspapers may be set free and they will remain self-sustaineble,” he thinks as Telegraf news agency reports.

According to him, 60% of regional newspapers are self-financing. In this connection, the Ministry of Information negotiates with Shklou-based printing paper factory on paper prices for newspapers.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed decree No192 on May 17 ordering to allocate money from the republican budget to render financial aid to state-run media in 2011. The state-owned media on the government’s special list can receive grants for “carrying out state policy via the mass media”.
