March of the empty pots to be held in Mahilou

An application for the march has been filed to the Maholou city executive committee.

As Belsat TV learned from Yury Novikau, the leader of the democratic coalition in the Mahilou region, 12 representatives of Mahilou opposition parties and NGOs applied for the march. “We have applied for June 9. An answer has not been given yet. Tomorrow, we plan to go to the city executive committee to talk and, so to say, prevent a possible decline,” Yury Novikau says.

Mahilou residents want to protest against price rise, inflation and deterioration of living conditions. The number of participants is expected to be 1,000 people, the application says. Yury Novikai is convinced more people could come if it were allowed to advertise the initiative: “Lots of individual entrepreneurs had to close their business. People are buying up everything in store because they don’t know what prices they will see tomorrow. In a month, nobody will buy goods, because people will not have money.”

Yury Novikau says they applied to carry out the gathering on Chalyuskintau Street, where the Mahilou city executive committee allows holding mass events. “In case of refusal, we will decide whether we should go to court or look for another way out. In any case, we are not going to surrender,” the leader of the democratic coalition of the Mahilou region emphasized.
