Minsk under occupation. Cops everywhere (Photo, video)

Another Stop Petrol rally turned the Belarusian capital into an occupied town.

The press service of the Minsk main police department threatened possible participants of peaceful protest against the increased fuel prices with “tangible fines or administrative arrests” and organizers with “up to three years of imprisonment”.

Not putting much hope on effectiveness of threats, Minsk police resorted to their traditional methods: they blocked the city’s main street and brought plainclothes bandits in Minsk.

Traffic police blocked Independence Avenue at Independence square on the side of the man post office at the intersection with Kazlou Street in direction to Victory Square at 7:00 pm. The blocked part of the avenue was full with people in mufti with or without video cameras.

A huge jam occurred at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Kazlou Street. Cars were honking and pedestrians were clapping. KAMAZ truck stopped with turned on hazard lights and blocked traffic, Euroradio reports. Plainclothes policemen under command of major Yauseeu are concentrated near Mir cinema and the Police Academy.

Some participants of the rally tied white ribbons. Those stopping with turned on hazard lights are immediately removed by tow trucks. An orange Lamborghini, stopped on Yanka Kupala Street for participating in the rally, gathered a crowd of passers-by, who smiled and pictured it, “Komsomolskaya Pravda” reports.

Traffic police began to remove traffic cones and opened Independence Avenue some minutes after 8. The rally ended.
