Andrei Sannikov is being killed in Mahilou prison

Belarusian presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov is being killed in the Mahilou prison in the true sense of the word.

As charter97.org has learnt, he was placed in the so called press-unit and suffers from all means of pressure.

A press-unit is a cell with especially cruel confinement conditions created by the prison authorities. A prisoner is thrown there to undergo mockery, beating and tortures to make him give the desired evidence or morally destroy him.

Andrei Sannikov arrived in Mahilou only on Sunday, September 25. Before, he was in the notorious Vitsebsk central prison, where he met another political prisoner, Zmitser Dashkevich. Sannikov insisted on seeing a doctor in the Vitsebsk prison and in Mahilou detention facility, but he was denied. Besides, the administrations of both prisons refused to secure the right of the political prisoner to see his lawyer.

Andrei Sannikov’s family learnt about his location only on Monday. The lawyer immediately left for Mahilou. After a meeting with his client, he filed appeals to the chief of Mahilou detention facility Nr4 asking to provide safety for the prisoner of conscience, because, as the presidential candidate claims, his life and health are in danger. We remind that other prisoners warned him about this yet in the dentition facility in Valadarski Street.

Andrei Sannikov has not been asked to sign any petitions, but it’s obvious that pressure is applied to make him apply for a pardon.

“Specially trained” prisoners in the “press-unit” tell Sannikov that he will meet even worse conditions in the Babruisk prison. There’s a danger that he will die before arrival in Babruisk.
