Political prisoner Mauchanau arrested again

He was detained in Zhodzina on suspicion of stealing scrap metal last Friday.

The former political prisoner, who was involved in the December 19 criminal case, has been placed into detention facility, “Nasha Niva” newspaper reports.

Alyaksandr was detained in the territory of the forging plant in Zhodzina. “The pardon means nothing,” Mauchanau’s mother Halina says. “No one wanted to employ him. Alyaksandr took business courses and went to a truck driving school. He wanted to register as a sole proprietor.”

“He did not have a job. His friend and he collected scrap metal at dumps for recycling. I don’t know how he entered the plant territory. Law enforcement officers say he stole scrap metal worth 450.000 rubles.”

Alyaksandr Mauchnau was the person who hung out a white-red-white flag on the KGB building on December 19, 2010. He was sentenced to three years, but was pardoned by Lukashenka in September. He did not file applications to Lukashenka. “I cannot appeal to the person, whom I do not consider a president,” Mauchanau said.

Problems did not disappear after the release. He was placed in a temporary detention facility in Barysau on suspicion of smearing state red and green flags with paint. His guilt was not proven.
