No news from political prisoner Lobau for month

There is no information about the fate of the political prisoner, his mother Maryna Lobava says.

“I has not received letters from Eduard for more than a month. His last telephone call was three weeks ago. It not usual of my son, who earlier wrote letters regularly. He was to apply for a visit in November. But I have no information about it. You know, the prison administration can cancel or ban it at any time,” political prisoner Eduard Lobau's mother Maryna Lobava told charter97.org.

Maryna Lobava says the prison authorities press on the political prisoner. “Eduard had problems with the jail authorities. He had seven disciplinary sanctions  for far-fetched reasons. For example, he was punished for going to the dining room alone. The sum of money he is allowed to spend on food was reduced from 500,000 to 100,000 rubles per month.”

Prison staff press on him to make him apply for a pardon, the mother of the political prisoner notes. “When the lawyer visited him for the last time, a prison officer told him straightly Eduard would have been released if he had applied for a pardon.”

If no news from her son appears in the nearest few days, Maryna Lobava and the lawyer will visit him. “I am waiting. If no information appears, the lawyer and I will visit the penal colony. My son said during the phone conversation that he didn't need visits of the lawyer. He promised to call and say when he would need him. Three weeks passed, but I haven't received any calls.”

Maryna Lobava does not hope Eduard will be released soon. “I don't think he will be freed in the nearest time. Other political prisoners were released because they filed pardon applications. My son didn't apply and will not apply for a pardon. He will be released only if a miracle happens or if the West presses on Lukashenka. Or if Lukashenka has to release political prisoners when financial crisis begins. I don't have other hopes.”
