Students in residence hall in Horki: They want to evict us due to mould (Photo)

29

Walls of the residence hall of the agricultural academy in Hroki, which was hastily built for the harvest festival, are covered with mould.

Photos of the building that speak for themselves appeared on the Internet last week. The snaps show   the ceiling, a bedside table and even belonging of students covered with mould. The district executive committee says no complaints have been filed on the issue. The mother of a student appealed to the local authorities of behalf of students' parents. Horki.info publishes her letter:

“I'd like to say on behalf of all parents that the new residence hall, which was constructed on occasion of the harvest festival, has plenty of defects,” Svyatlana writes. “Mould and moisture is not a fantasy of our children or photoshop. These are the conditions students have to live in. It's a pity that the district executive committee finds it easier to pretend there're no problems than to solve them!

Ventilation doesn't work in the building. Students were proposed to live with windows open for 24 hours a day! They are ordered to wipe out the mould and threatened to be evicted if inspectors find mould in rooms.

What is the fault of students? Is their fault that they showed the problems of the hastily constructed building? Can they be blamed for not willing to live in this mouldy and wet residence hall that has negative impact on their health?

On behalf of all parents I urge not to scare our students or make them clean their rooms, but to repair the ventilation system and solve the problems of leaking taps, water pipes , etc. described in the journal of the residence hall.”

It should be reminded that Lukashenka harshly criticised prime minister Mikhail Myasnikovich for the ruining buildings, which were built in Horki for the harvest festival.

The ruler received photos of mouldy walls in the new residence hall of the Academy of Agriculture. The building was opened only a month ago. Lukashenka shouted at Mikhail Myasnikovich and ordered him to “lick of the mould”.
