Russia refutes Lukashenka: No oil deal

The Ministry of Energy of Russia has refuted Lukashenka's remark about the agreement on delivery of 23 million tonnes of oil to Belarus in 2013.

“The information about the reached agreement on supplying 23 million tonnes of Russian oil to the Republic of Belarus in 2013 is not true. As for today, the agreement on the volume of Russian oil supplies to the Republic of Belarus in 2013 has not been signed,” Interfax news agency quotes the Russian Ministry of Energy.

“The Russian side proposes to deliver 18.5 million tonnes of oil to the Republic of Belarus. Oil delivery in the first quarter of 2013 will be carried out proceeding from the proposed volume,” the press service of the Russian Ministry of Energy informs.

Let us remind, Lukashenka had said today, that Belarus has come to terms with Russia about the delivery of 23 million tonnes of oil in 2013.

“We were holding negotiations with Russia. They were offering 18.5 million tonnes while we wanted 23 million tonnes. However, we have come to terms with the Russians about the delivery of 23 million tonnes,” stressed he.

He added: “We will get oil without problems”. Alexander Lukashenka said that when there were problems, Belarus managed to find sources of oil in Venezuela and Azerbaijan. “But we have already reached an agreement with Russia,” said he.
