Zhadobin: Second Tor missile complex battery to be received before the end of the year

An agreement with the Russian side for deliveries of the battery has been concluded already.

The second battery of Tor – M2 air-defense missile system is to be received by 120th air-defence brigade of the Western operational-tactical command before the end of 2012. It has been stated today at a press-conference by the Defence Minister of Belarus Lieutenant General Yury Zhadobin, BelTA informs.

As said by the minister, the agreement with the Russian side on deliveries of the second battery had been concluded already.

“In the future, by the end of 2013, we shall have in arsenal of the 120th air-defence brigade of the Western operational-tactical command an air-defense missile division, fully equipped by Tor-M2 air-defense missile complexes,” Yury Zhadobin said.

The first Tor-M2 missile battery arrived to Belarus in the end of 2011. “Tor-M2” is a representative of the new generation of low to medium altitude, short-range surface-to-air missile systems. It is designed for engaging airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, precision guided munitions, unmanned aerial vehicles and ballistic targets. The complex is highly effective in massive anti-air warfare in the conditions of firing counterefforts and jamming support. “Tor-M2” can attain combat tasks in any climate conditions.
