AFN: Dzmitryieu fits Makey’s team perfectly

Andrei Dzmitryieu, one of the leaders of the campaign “Speak the Truth” (Govori Pravdu) said the EU sanction policy regarding Belarus is inefficient.

This statement guarantees him a secure place in the business-plan of the head of administration Makey, AFN reports.

“The policy of visa sanctions cannot be efficient. It is obvious that nothing will change now when the list contains 200 names. The EU simply demonstrates its moral position not directed to any changes, not leading to the release of the prisoners. This is nothing more than an algorithm of actions that is being followed,“ Dzmitryieu said quoted by Interfax.by.

Basically Dzmitryieu has either joined or confirmed his participation in the campaign “Net” (Set) initiated by a group of Belarusian opposition activists to reduce the list of the persons who are not allowed to enter the EU, and to cancel the economic sanctions.

Dzmitryieu said that ”it would good to understand what goals the EU pursues with these sanctions.”

According to him, a crucial goal today is the liberation of the political prisoners; another goal is to start a democratization process in the country (or with other words, to start a dialogue between the powers and the constructive opposition) and to create a better understanding and cooperation between Belarus and the EU.

“The decisions we get today are not so unexpected anymore (new names included to the list) and we cannot see any movement in the above-mentioned directions”, Dzmitryieu commented on the EU’s decision to recall all ambassadors from Belarus.

At the same time he emphasized that the EU will never strengthen the economic sanctions.

“The EU has neither crossed before, nor is crossing today this economic “red line”; and they will never do that in future”, Dzmitryieu said.

“We should accept it, stop whining about it and having unrealistic expectations”, he added. And for this statement the “promising” politician will get the well-deserved A from Makey.
