Krychau prosecution agency ignores independent journalists

The prosecutor of the Krychau district does not react to requests from journalists of independent media.

Journalists of “Volny Horad” newspaper sent several letters to Uladzimir Tryvaila, the prosecutor of the Krychau district, asking to tell them about the situation of corruption and organized crime in 2011 in the Krychau district, but have not received answers to their requests, Viasna human rights centre reports.

Mikalai Herdziy, a journalist of “Volny Horad” newspaper, offered the prosecutor to answer to this question in pro-governmental newspaper “Krychauskaye Zhytsyo”, not in independent press. But a material about the fight against corruption and organized crime did not appear even in this newspaper.

Mikalai Herdziy writes in his article  Uladzimir Tryvaila found different excuses each time: “He said at our latest meeting about two weeks ago, he had given the necessary information to “Krychauskaye Zhytsyo” editor Iukina, but he did not understand why the material was not published. Sounds funny. In this case, Tryvaila probably does not want to lie in public, because the real state of things is more than terrible, so he drags his feet.

The editor of “Volny Horad” newspaper, Syarhei Nyarouny, says information about the fight against corruption and organized crime in the Krychau district is kept in secret.
