“Parliamentary election” to be held on September 23

Lukashenka has appointed the date of the electoral farce.

The Belarusian “parliamentary election” is scheduled for September 23, 2012.

The announcement was made by Alyaksandr Lukashenka at a meeting to discuss the “election” to the “national assembly” of Belarus, BelTA news agency reports.

The head of state warned, “We should not please anyone from outside. We won't do it.”

The dictator called to secure order in the country during the “parliamentary” campaign and demanded to prevent illegal actions and political provocations.

“Illegal actions, political provocations aimed at destabilization of the situation in the country should be  suppressed immediately and the people guilty should be brought to responsibility imposed by the law. Everyone must respect the law. One cannot became a member of the parliament without it,” Lukashenka said.

He noted, “Campaigning cannot be carried out on the rules of mass street rallies.”

“A task of the law-enforcement agencies is to prevent meetings with voters from turning into such events. Order must be everywhere,” Lukashenka stressed.

Belarus will give international observers the right to monitor the “parliamentary election” on September 23, but no one will make observers visit the country, Lukashenka says.

“We should do our best to help the work of international observers and create favourable conditions for their work,” he said.

He stressed, “No international observers will be forced to visit the county. However, we need to give this right to the people who want to monitor the election.”
