Lithuanian “spy” is a former military

Belarus KGB considers the statements of the Lithuanian foreign Ministry as an attempt to preserve the image of Lithuanian intelligence.

Belarus Committee for State Security considers the statements of the Lithuanian foreign Ministry as an attempt to preserve the image of national special services, supposedly, illegally acted on a territory of the sovereign state.

“Belarus Committee for State Security  considers the statement of the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Defence of the Republic of Lithuania about the suppression of espionage activity of military intelligence of Lithuania as incompetent attempt to preserve the image of the national special services, illegally acted on the territory of the sovereign state”, - declared on tuesday in its interview to  the reporter of “Interfax-West” Arthur Strech, Acting Head of the KGB Centre of Information and Public Relations.

In relation to this he reminded that the main figurant of the espionage activity – the citizen of Belarus.

Before that, Lithuanian Foreign Ministry called an insinuation the report of the Belarus Committee for State Security about arresting the officer of Lithuanian military intelligence and noted that information, published on the official KGB website, doesn’t correspond to reality and does not contribute to the development of bilateral relations.  

During an agent’s action, KGB officers caught in the act a resident of Lithuanian military intelligence, some citizen “F”. At the same time, members of his agent chain were arrested on the fact of transfer secret information to foreign intelligence agency.

In his turn, A.Strech specified that the arrested is a former military, who moved for permanent residency to Lithuania after he was dismissed. Having permission for residency, he lived with his family in the suburbs of Vilnius.

“from Lithuanian intelligence he received a task to create an intelligence network, in order to collect data about functioning of Belarusian Air force and Air Defense forces”, - informed Acting Head.  “We can say that in order to realize a criminal plan, he, as a resident, received financial support from Lithuanian special services to organize a commercial project on our territory”, - pointed out agency’s interlocutor. He paid attention to the fact that “all actions of these people at all stages are completely documented”.
