One Olympic medal costed to the budget $ 3.6 million

The cost of preparations for the Games can be calculated using the official documents.

According to the decision of the Council of Ministers "On the program of training athletes for the Olympic Games", it was spent about 190 billion rubles.

For simpler calculations let’s translate the money into dollars in accordance with the exchange rate of the National bank. Thus, the final amount is divided by the number of medals won (12, without the gold medal taken away from Nadezhda Astapchuk). It turns out that the approximate figure - 3 million 609 thousand dollars for one Olympic medal, reports "Euroradio".

At the same time, Siargei Martynau, our newfound Olympic champion in the small-bore rifle shooting, said that he uses bullets, produced during the Soviet era.

"There still remain bullets from the Soviet era. These are purely for competition. To shoot several times a year, - says the champion. - Training bullets are purchased as needed. Funding was provided, for weapons, ammunition – for everything".

At the end of the Olympic Games, Belarusian athletes, who were successful, are getting ready to receive awards. For gold medals is promised 150 thousand dollars, for silver medals - 75, for bronze ones - 50.
