Mikalai Dzyamidzenka given 7 days in custody

A court found a Young Front member guilty of “swearing” and sentenced him to a short term in custody.

The trial was conducted by judge Dzmitry Lukashevich, Radio Svaboda reports.

Mikalai Dzyamidzenka did not admit his guilt and called the trial political aimed at isolating him ahead of trial over Zmitser Dashkevich in order to prevent holding street actions to support the Young Front leader.

He said the case of “swearing” was slander and falsification.

Two policemen and an unemployed man gave their evidence. Dzyamidzenka warned the latter about responsibility for perjured evidence.

We remind that the Young Front activist was detained yesterday near his home in Minsk. He was attacked by seven special task soldiers, who did not explain a reason for the detention. A police report for alleged swearing was drawn up against him. Mikalai Dzyamidzenka spent the night in a detention centre.
