Windows, enclosed bulletin boards and plant pots were broken as a result of an attack.

Nearly 100 people took part in a rally near the embassy of Belarus in Kyrgyzstan, Vecherny Bishkek newspaper reports. The rally was attended by representatives of two NGOs, which demanded extradition of Zhanysh (Janysh) Bakiyev, a brother of the former Kyrgyz president who fled to Belarus.

Protesters said Kyrgyzstan is not a place for the embassy of the country which is impudent enough to give refuge to the criminal.

Protesters made an attempt to enter the embassy building, but security guards and a police squad blocked the entry. People then began to throw stones at windows of the embassy and broke an enclosed bulletin board and plant pots.

One of the protesters explained the crowd wanted the ambassador to talk to them. He also said protesters believed that Belarus had given political asylum to Kurmanbek Bakiyev's brother and he lived a normal life in Minsk without hiding.

As charter97.org reported earlier, an activist of Tell the Truth campaign, Mikhail Pashkevich, posted photos of Zhanybek Bakiyev walking in Minsk centre on August 17 on his Facebook account.

The photos provoked an international scandal. On August 21, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented a note verbale to the Belarusian MFA asking “to take urgent measures to detain citizen Zhanysh Bakiyev as soon as possible and extradite him to the Kyrgyz Republic”. Having seen no reaction from Belarus, the Kyrgyz MFA recalled the country's Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary Erik Asanaliyev to Bishkek for consultations on August 24.
